To Raise Awareness to the plight of the Mountain Gorillas and highlight the hard work done by the Game Rangers who protect them, through the Film: Galiwango; Obulamu Bw'eKisodde | www.galiwango.com

This Cause was created with a goal to Identify ways to help support efforts around the world in the campaign to raise awareness to the plight of the last remaining mountain gorillas in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The cause also seeks to highlight the selfless work the Rangers are doing in protecting the endangered great apes and their forest habitats. What cannot be ignored is the impact of the illegal charcoal trade and deforestation on local communities like the Batwa tribe that used to share a forest habitat with the mountain gorillas in Bwindi and the Virunga valley.

Currently the Beneficially of the donations we collect is the Dr. Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International. They are doing a wonderful job of offering support to the Rangers in East and Central Africa, and providing a rehabilitation center for Mountain Gorillas and Eastern Lowland Gorillas rescued from poachers and bush meat dealers.

We are also seeking to spread the word to the Youth about the importance of Wildlife Conservation through a 3D Animated Mountain Gorilla Film entitled "Galiwango, Obulamu Bw'ekisodde," which translated from Luganda, a native language widely spoken in the 3 range states, means "The Life of a Mountain Gorilla, called Galiwango" ~ Check out a Preview of the Film here: http://www.galiwango.com and a more detailed Interview by the Connect 4 Climate team here: http://www.connect4climate.org/blog/ugandas-solomon-jagwe-uses-film-to-teach-conservation-and

UNEP ENDORSEMENT ~ "The aim of this film is to raise awareness about the plight of the Mountain Gorillas and the threats that they are exposed to. Although there are a variety of threats facing gorilla populations today, central threats include degradation and loss of habitat, direct exploitation, diseases, as well as the impact of war and political unrest in various range states.

Solomon W. Jagwe’s goal is not only to raise awareness and educate, but to also appeal on a local level to the younger generation of Ugandan’s and to catalyze conservation action on their part. The YoG deeply supports this kind of educational approach and this film is special in the sense that it is being made in a local language. We encourage and invite potential donors to support this project" UNEP/UNESCO Endorsement ~ http://www.yog2009.org/index.php?limitstart=15
